If you have a plastic retainer, then you need to keep it in tip-top shape so it can keep your teeth in tip-top shape. Now, if you’re not sure how to do so, you have come to the right blog. Today, our orthodontist, Dr. Adrian Huang, is happy to give you the instructions you need to care for your plastic retainer in Provo, Utah.
-When you take your retainer out of your mouth throughout the day, like when you eat meals, then rinse it with warm water in the bathroom or kitchen sink. This can help you wash away the plaque and bacteria that form and grow on your appliance regularly.
-Clean the retainer each time you brush your teeth by scrubbing it with a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive or antimicrobial toothpaste. This can clean the appliance all without scratching it. When you’re done scrubbing, rinse it with cool water. Never rinse the appliance with hot water.
-Keep the appliance safe when it’s not in the mouth. It’s usually best if you keep it in its case and in your pocket, drawer, or backpack so it doesn’t get damaged or lost.
